My father was George Davie who served as a Corporal with the 2DY during the Second World war. I have his five medals and his service record from the MOD. My grandchildren are very interested in finding out more. I like this website but the Regional Museum at Derby drew a blank. I don't suppose anyone is left alive who knew my father but someone may have more information than me. Great to hear from anyone.

Recently his recollections were posted on the annual newsletter - something that pleased him immensely. Sadly he passed away in Feb 2012 aged 90 years. With remembrance approaching fast I will miss him terribly this year at the parade he always attended on November 11th (which also happens to be my birthday) in his adopted home town of Ross-on-Wye
Would like to hear from anyone whose relatives might have known or served with him. His name was Norman Burn
Hi,
My Grandad was Louis Haywood and he served along side his brother Harry. Same story, never really wanted to discuss what horrors they saw. I am now trying to piece some information together about his times during the war, any info would be greatly appreciated. He died 30/12/05. Vicki

My father Tpr William (Bill) Baker served with 2nd DY from Sept 44 to the Regiments disbandment. I have an album of photos he took in NE Europe during that time. I think he served in B Sqn, I believe his car contained a Geordie Barkiss (not sure about spelling and a Sgt who was a vet from Edinburgh. He also mentioned being awith Lt Peter Mucklow when he was killed.
Hi all, my father was Trooper Edwin Parsons who served in the HQ squadron of the Regiment. I presume Major A Jones as QM would have been part of the HQ squadron too.
My father Major A J Jones was the QM of the 2nd DY throughout the war, and wrote the history of the regiment.
I have my magnifying glass out trying to find him in the photos.
Hi please have a look at my web site, i have a section on the 2nd DY that I think you will find interesting.

Hi Bridget...it seems to be a common theme...they didn't want to talk about the War just the people!
If you want to add your pics and anything you can remember it will be most welcome and perhaps we can all help one-another to fill in the gaps
